1974
The Competition History of RAD 366G - Marcos 1600GT :1968-1974

Over the winter break, I had decided to continue racing with the car using the same specification as 1973 although Stan did modify the wheel arches on the bodywork during the break.
As well as cost considerations, I needed to fulfil the plans I had intended for 1973 before they were cut short with the engine problems. I also had future work commitments looming that would have a bearing on my time.
I also wanted to keep the car in such a state that it could revert to being a road car again (as it now is).
Races:
Date | Circuit | Club | Practice | Race | Finish | No |
April 15 | Castle Combe | BRSCC | 1.14.4 | 12.38.8 (10l) FL:1.14.4 | 1/20 (C1) | 102 |
| I am going to be a bit vain here as this event saw me on pole for Practice and this was followed by winning the race outright during which I was given a serious challenge by Steven Roberts in a Mini Marcos as in other races. I have devoted a whole page of photos to this singular achievement. Photos 41 - 47 | ||||||
May 27 | Castle Combe | HDLCC | 1.13.7 | 12.41 (10l) FL:1.14.0 | 2/16 (C2) | 143 |
| Another very successful day when we came an overall second with the car going really well. Another decent tussle with Steven. Photos 48,49 | ||||||
Sep 22 | Thruxton | BARC 100kms | 1.34.4 | pitted1ap22 FL:1.34.4 | n/k | 54 |
| Race combined with Sports/GT. Called into the pits to repair cable to water temperature sensor. Finished nowhere. Photos 50,51,52 | ||||||
Oct 27 | Thruxton | BARC | 1.35.2 | 13.29.2 (8l) FL:1.34.8 | 12/29 (C3) | 36 |
| Dry weather for Practice but rain falling at 2-minute flag. Stayed on slicks as circuit dried. Had a spin at Goodwood because of a low sun at the exit of Church. | ||||||
Nov 16 | Thruxton | BARC | 1.39.4 | ? FL:1.32.3 | 16/28 | 25 |
| This was the last race of the year and as it turned out would be the last time I would go racing. We had a damp track for practice in the morning but lovely sunshine in the afternoon and I achieved a best ever lap of 1.32.3 (91.089 mph). What a way to finish. Photo 53 | ||||||
